The Nepean District is a mixed rural and urban electorate covering the Southern Mornington Peninsula from Dromana, across to Somers, through our beautiful Red Hill Hinterland and all the way down to Portsea.
We enjoy access to raging ocean beaches from Cape Schanck to Portsea as well as calm family friendly beaches abutting Port Phillip Bay. Our beaches and lifestyle is what attracts locals and visitors and we are fiercely protective of our clean, green and pristine environment.
Our population is approximately 55,000 and has the oldest demographic of any electorate in Victoria which places particular emphasis on the need to provide age relevant health care and transport services.
Some of the earliest settlements from Melbourne were established across the Mornington Peninsula and while much is lost, we have managed to maintain and protect a significant amount of our early pre and post European heritage.
The Southern Mornington Peninsula boasts internationally renowned tourism attractions which are a key driver and help sustain our local economy. Our agricultural hinterland also provides stunning vistas, coupled with genuine on farm agri-tourism experiences.
Nepean is our own little piece of paradise, one hour from Melbourne, and as locals, we are determined to preserve and protect our region for future generations to enjoy.
